Marshall
Rules for ICF Licence Holders 2008
In order to
qualify for points in any Omagh Wheelers
competitive event during 2008, all
competitors must have an ICF licence in
place by
28 February 2008.
All
competitors MUST agree to take on the
role of Head Marshall on at least one
competitive event during the year. The Race
Event Calendar on the website indicates the
event each competitor has been selected to
act as Head Marshall.
The
appointed Head Marshall for each Road Race,
Time Trial or Hill Climb must comply with
the following criteria:
The Head
Marshall must:
- Be in
position at start of event at least 25
minutes before the official start time,
i.e. By 6.35pm for the normal 7.00pm
start time
- Have
with him at least 2 other
competent marshalls
- Not
assume that Leo McKenna or Enda Harpur
will be present. If either is to be
counted as a marshall, then this must be
arranged with them in advance.
- Have
with him, or have immediate access to
Sign-On and time sheets.
Head
Marshall must then:

Arrange for the erection of warning
signs where appropriate
-
Arrange time gaps and set riders off
as close to official start time as
possible
-
Arrange for marshalls to be present
at each major junction along the
route. In the case of time trials,
the turn must be controlled by at
least 2 marshalls
-
Arrange for himself and other
marshalls to have suitable clothing,
i.e. yellow jackets, and red flags
where appropriate.
-
Ensure the finish line is properly
marked with white paint, cone and
chequered flag.
-
Arrange for the operation of the
video camera at the finish line
(races only).
-
Arrange safe traffic management at
the finish line.
-
Prepare results, and pass on sign-on
sheets (title and dated) to the Club
Race Events Organiser, PRO or
website representative on the night.
Any
breach of points 1-4 above will lead to the
marshall being disqualified from points in
ALL competitive events throughout the year.
There will be no exceptions.
Any
breaches of points a-h will lead to the loss
of 5 points per breach.
In the
event of a dispute, the competitor affected
must formally make a case to any Club
Committee member. The matter will then be
heard by the full Committee at the next
scheduled meeting. The Committee will have
the final say on any dispute.

1. No helmet, NO START
2. No sign-on, NO POINTS
3. Timekeeper’s word is FINAL
4. Competitors must have a cuurent ICF
licence
5. Club members MUST wear club clothing, a
club jersey being the minimum requirement.
6. There will be a £2 entry fee for each
event (except Inter-Club)
Points System
• points will be awarded as follows: 1st-20
pts; 2nd- 18 pts; 3rd-16; 4th-14; 5th-12;
6th-10; 7th-9; 8th-8, etc.
• the Club Time Trial Championship will be
decided on the most points accumulated by
each competitor over any 6 out of the 7
events.
• The Club Road Race Championship will be
decided on the most points accumulated by
each competitor over any 6 out of the 7
events.
• The Club Hill Climb Championship will be
decided on the most points accumulated by
each competitor over any 3 of the 4 events.
• The Club Overall Championship will be
decided on the total points accumulated by
each competitor over all three of the above
Championships, but excluding one event in
each category, ie Total Club Championship
Points per rider = Best 6 Road Races + Best
6 Time Trials + Best 3 Hill Climbs
Awards
Awards will be presented as follows:
Club Members:
• Time Trials: Top three places
• Road Races: Top three places
• Hill Climbs: Top three places
Overall Club Championship:
• Top ten places, including recognition for
top three veterans and top lady.
• Best Improver
Visitors
• Time Trials: 1st place
• Road Races: 1st place
• Hill Climbs: 1st place
• Overall Visitors Championship: 1st place
(Awards may be withdrawn or added to at the
discretion of the Committee)
